KMi researcher Dr Alessio Antonini and Prof John Domingue recently convened a successful British Academy–funded workshop in Rome (26–28 May 2026) at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History, focusing on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of littorals.
The workshop brought together collaborators to develop a new research bid for a Horizon 2027 call on safeguarding and transmitting cultural heritage, exploring how AI-driven approaches can support the resilience and transmission of cultural practices in coastal and waterside communities.
This activity forms part of a broader KMi-FASS initiative to strengthen research in the creative and cultural industries, connecting with ongoing UKRI and European collaborations. The event underscored the strength of this interdisciplinary partnership, featuring participation from Prof Derek Matravers (Philosophy) and Dr Francesca Benatti (English and Creative Writing).
A joint paper arising from the workshop is currently under review, with feedback expected soon, marking an important step in shaping future research directions in this area.
